No Local Multiplayer In Peggle 2 [Updated]

As Google puts it:
deal-breaker
noun
(in business and politics) a factor or issue which, if unresolved during negotiations, would cause one party to withdraw from a deal.

Bjorn

Those of you out there who played the original Peggle will know that its number one feature was its local multiplayer modes. Striking that fine balance between fun and competitive, it was very addictive and really was the star of the show in my opinion. As a result, I was really looking forward to grabbing Peggle 2 to play alongside my Mrs (and finally make use of that second controller I bought on launch day).

Unfortunately, those who took the plunge and picked up Peggle 2 yesterday have discovered that all local multiplayer features have been removed, leaving us with a laggy online multiplayer component in it’s place.

Forgive me for generalising but when exactly did every games company other than Nintendo decide that local multiplayer was a dead concept? I partially understand larger projects moving away from couch multiplayer in favour of playing online, but there is no reason why enjoyable little arcade games like this should lose such vital functionality.

It’s a real shame as there is no way I will be buying Peggle 2 without these modes and it was the title I was looking forward to the most out of the X1 launch lineup.

*Sigh* got to love next gen gaming, right?

Update 2013/12/10: It appears there is hope yet! https://www.facebook.com/notes/peggle/a-note-from-our-producer/581968561870658

  1. That Sucks. Seems rather pointless to have a spare controller. You will have to teach Charlotte how to string some great combos together on KI 😉

    • Buying that controller really has been a waste of money so far. Once we get a copy of Lego Marvel that will all change but its still really disappointing that local MP is being killed off when its still my favourite way to game with friends.
