Rise Of The Tomb Raider Exclusive To Xbox

At gamescom today, Square Enix announced that the Tomb Raider sequel will be exclusive to the Xbox Platform.

That’s right. You can only play Rise Of The Tomb Raider on Xbox 🙂

Rise of the Tomb Raider will take gamers to multiple locations around the world filled with exploration spaces that are some of the most beautifully hostile places on earth. On a plus Tombs will be back but in a much more lengthy and challenging addition.

Rise of The Tomb Raider will be available in the fall of 2015.

  1. This can only be a bad thing really. Microsoft has a horrible habit of taking on IPs and Studios and running them into the ground. I can see Tomb Raider suffering a similar fate when they realise this won’t be a system seller. As someone who has played TR since 1996, I’m pretty pissed to see this happen tbh 😦

    • I believe this is the same situation as Sunset Overdrive. They needed funding and Microsoft have jumped in. Only the compromise is that it has to be an exclusive. With over a year still till it is released who knows what will happen. It shows in some way that Phil Spencer is a gamer first and businessman second.

      • Hmm, I don’t buy it personally. I’m not suggesting Square-Enix are the richest games company out there but when Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy are two of your main IPs you are going to have a fair bit of money in the bank.

This is a combination of Microsoft throwing their wallet around and SE giving long-time TR fans the finger. Sort of makes me regret supporting them since the PS1 era.
