Following the pattern set by pretty much every other game these days, Resident Evil Revelations 2 will feature a micro transaction system.
This will be limited to the game’s RAID mode and allows players to purchase life crystals, essentially allowing them to continue a mission if they die. Capcom went on to say that players will also be able to unlock these crystals by completing daily challenges.
Personally I’m not a fan of this approach as it removes all challenge from the game. Yes they are optional but what’s the point of slogging through a difficult mission to gain an upgrade if someone with an infinite wallet can just buy their way to the same result?
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is almost here and so too is the series’ popular RAID mode.
Capcom has released a sizable 20 minute video showing off the mode in action and its looking pretty great to me. The introduction of different elements (Ice, Fire) is certainly a nice touch 🙂
Revelations 2 launches its first chapter next month, while the complete package will release on disk in March.
From the Tokyo Game Show, the first gameplay of Resident Evil Revelations 2 has been shown off.
While I’m expecting a proper, official trailer to pop up shortly, someone kindly recorded a few minutes of the game in action from a demo booth at the show.
There isn’t a huge amount to see in a 2 minute video of course but we now know you can switch between Claire and Moira on the fly, with Moira being used to search out items using her torch (similar to the scanner in Rev1) and open doors with a crowbar. Claire on the other hand seems to be the attacker of the group, wielding a shotgun in this brief demo.
A lot of people watching this video will probably just shrug their shoulders and think “meh, looks alright” but I am really excited to get my hands on this game. I love the idea of it being a cheaper, episodic title and I’m just really pleased to see Claire back in action. Its been far too long.
Revelations 2 launches early next year alongside the Resident Evil 1 remake.

The first gameplay trailer has now been released for RE Revelations 2 (sorry about the numerous posts, they are really trickling this information out aren’t they?).
I’m not entirely sold on Claire’s new character model but overall the game is looking great. There is obviously a much stronger focus on horror than recent RE games and I’m really liking the new visuals.
In case you haven’t read some of my other posts recently, Revelations 2 launches on 360/X1/PS3/PS4 early 2015 in episodic form and will cost roughly $25.A bargain for a Resi nut like me 🙂
