X1 DVR Features Limited On Launch Day

It’s 2013 and most people these days have a Youtube channel. It therefore came as no surprise that both Sony and Microsoft confirmed that their new consoles would feature a series of upload tools, allowing gamers to share their gameplay experiences with the online community.

Unfortunately, those of you looking forward to using this new service will have to wait a while, as Microsoft has stated that Facebook and Youtube integration will not be available until next year. Sure, standard uploads will be available right away, however I cannot see these being as popular.

For those keeping score, it should be noted that the PlayStation 4 will not feature Youtube integration at launch either, however Facebook functionality will be there.

With all these missing features (on both consoles I hasten to add), I’m personally getting the feeling that these new pieces of hardware are being rushed to market in time for Christmas and probably should have been held back a few months.
